Upaya

Angela Brown, artist and performer is exhibiting her artwork at Yaletown Gallery at 123-1208 Homer St. (at Davie) on May 2 and 3rd. Angela has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Theatre from Concordia University, Montreal and a second BFA in Dance from York University, Toronto. She often combines performance with her art. Angela's paintings sculptures and drawings featured in this exhibition are from a series “Mask & Myth” - human images merging with that of nature, human faces transform into a rocky mountains, leaves of a tree into limbs of a man.

Angela has been collaborating with interdisciplinary artist Evelyn Roth for a number of years using Evelyn’s inflatable sculptures along with projections of Angela’s art with performance. In the past few years, Angela has presented these works at Gallery Gachet and Ironworks Studios in Vancouver and at the SALA Festival in Australia. Most recently, Angela, Catherine Lee and Laura Cramer (True North performance) were at the Dance Centre in Vancouver creating this new work “Upaya”. Opening night of the art exhibition, May 2nd at 6pm. True North Performance will be resenting an interdisciplinary performance starting at 7pm.
