Art Exhibit: March 17 – 26, 2008
Fashion Show + Reception: Friday, March 21 at 7pm

Yaletown Gallery, 123-1208 Homer St (at Davie)
Tuesday to Saturday, Noon–5pm (or by appointment)

Join painter and textile artist Fariba Mirzaie as she unravels our winter cocoon and reveals the new spring season in her solo show Behind the Nature.

Artist Statement

In the darkest moment of our life, if we try to find the light (beauty), it will guide us toward our journey, and then we can start a new life... rebirth.

When looking closely behind everything in the circle of life, we always get the same message. The first of spring is the rejuvenation of nature, the beginning of a new life, and an awakening of the natural life. This awakening symbolizes the triumph of light winning against darkness, represented by winter. It is the point when the oppressive presence of the cold winter finally begins to retrieve with the commencement of the lively and hopeful spring "Rebirth."

March Update

March is definitely roaring out like a lion as there’s a lot going on at the gallery. We’re traveling to L.A. to visit some galleries and discussing plans for a solo exhibit with an award-winning New York contemporary artist.

But not to get ahead of ourselves, the opening for LANDSCAPES IN VANCOUVER had a huge turnout and we’re thrilled with the response. While we work on a platform to showcase the talent of artists, it’s you, the community, that makes it a reality by showing your support. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the work, you’d better hurry. The show comes down March 16.

Following photography, we’re spinning 360 degrees into the fashion show Behind the Nature by textile designer Fariba Mirzaie. We’ll post more details about the show soon.

And last but not least for March, we’re currently accepting submissions for VANCOUVER: Perspectives in Paint that will run March 27 until April 10. You can find all the submission details here:

I think that’s about it for now. Have a good one!
